The 21st Century is an increasingly complex and ever changing period of time. Students are already active participants in an increasingly online digital world and virtual environments.<\/p>\n
As technology improves and new discoveries are made, our students will have unprecedented access to information. They will be judged by how they utilize their knowledge, think critically and creatively, and work collaboratively to solve problems.<\/p>\n
The College has a clear, coherent and well researched plan about how we use ICT in teaching and learning to better equip students to make a positive difference in this ever changing world. This eLearning Plan identifies a number of Key Future Directions for the College that cover the following areas: Catholic Values, Personal Learning Devices on a 1:1 Model, Infrastructure and Resources, Ethical, Safe and effective use of technology, Effective Leadership of eLearning, Professional Learning, Learning Resources, Information and Learning Management Systems and Learning Places and Spaces.<\/p>\n
The College\u2019s PLD program supports the implementation of the curriculum as Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is a general capability that equips our students to live and work successfully in the twenty-first century.<\/p>\n
Through their learning, students develop Information and Communication Technology (ICT) capability as they learn to use ICT effectively and appropriately to access, create and communicate information and ideas, solve problems and work collaboratively in all learning areas at school and in their lives beyond school. ICT capability involves students learning to make the most of the digital technologies available to them, adapting to new ways of doing things as technologies evolve and limiting the risks to themselves and others in a digital environment.<\/p>\n
The PLD program also allows teachers to fulfil the requirements of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers. They will implement effective teaching strategies to integrate ICT into learning and teaching programs to make selected content relevant and meaningful.<\/p>\n
Personal Learning Devices have been rolled out to all students.<\/p>\n
Every classroom in the College is equipped with an overhead data projector and laptop connection allowing for easier integration in the classroom. Interactive white boards or interactive touch screens are in all Junior School classrooms, allowing for the technology to be a day to day part of student learning.<\/p>\n
The College has a Portal for parents and students providing College information including classwork and homework details. An internal intranet for both Students and Staff, provides useful links and resources in the College. The Senior and Junior Libraries also have websites giving useful research information and access to resources such as encyclopedias, information databases and video library.<\/p>\n
Students are expected to learn about and manage their Personal Learning Devices (PLD’s), students should visit the ICT Help Desk before school, recess, lunchtime or after school, when they are unable to resolve a technical issue themselves.<\/p>\n
The ICT Help Desk is open from 8am to 4pm school days. It is located next to the Uniform Shop.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
